Mediation

Mediation is a private and confidential process in which a neutral third party, the mediator, helps the involved parties discuss their differences and explore potential resolutions. Mediation is a cost-effective and timely alternative to litigation, and it can occur before a lawsuit is filed or be required by the court system after a complaint has been initiated.

Syrena Williams brings a unique blend of skills to the mediation process, including over 18 years of legal experience, more than 20 years of business management and consulting expertise, and certified coaching skills. As a certified mediator by the NC Dispute Resolution Commission, she is qualified to mediate settlement conferences before litigation and in cases within District Court, Superior Court, and Family Financial Matters.

Syrena's approach fosters patience and active listening, allowing all parties to feel heard, understood, and empowered to reach mutually acceptable solutions. Her proven track record includes achieving resolutions that may not be possible through traditional court orders, helping individuals and businesses move forward confidently.

Syrena mediates for both individuals and businesses, with or without legal representation.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a private and confidential process in which a neutral third party, known as a mediator, helps the involved parties discuss their differences and explore potential resolutions. During mediation, parties can engage in both group discussions and individual sessions with the mediator to share relevant information. The mediator facilitates these conversations, guiding the parties toward mutually agreeable solutions.

Mediation is an affordable and timely alternative to litigation. It can take place before a lawsuit is filed, during court proceedings, or as required by the court after a complaint has been initiated.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Our mediation sessions are scheduled for a minimum of four hours to ensure ample time for thorough discussions and resolutions. Here's what you can expect during the process:

  1. Introduction and Review: We begin by reviewing the mediation process and the rules that will guide our session. We'll also outline the specific issues to be addressed during the mediation.
  2. Sharing Perspectives: Each party will have the opportunity to share their perspective on the situation—why they are here and how they arrived at this point. This allows everyone to be heard and understood.
  3. Discussion of Issues: The mediation will involve both individual and group discussions. Each item will be addressed separately, with opportunities for collective resolution. The mediator will facilitate conversations to help identify potential solutions.
  4. Considering Agreements: As agreements are proposed, parties will be given time and space to reflect on the offers. We'll ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of the terms before they are documented and signed.

Throughout the process, our goal is to create an environment where all parties feel comfortable, heard, and empowered to reach a mutually agreeable resolution.
